Examining Codes of Ethics

I-1.3—To recognize and respect the unique qualities,
abilities, and potential of each child.

Each child that you encounter is different and has different qualities. As a teacher we need to figure out what those are and help them see what they are. That way they are able to find different ways that they can exceed within as well as outside the classroom.

I-1.5—To create and maintain safe and healthy settings
that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and
physical development and that respect their dignity
and their contributions.

We need to make sure that our classroom are inviting for all students. If the student feels like the environment isn't safe or healthy then they are going to hold back and not do as well in the classroom.

I-1.8—To support the right of each child to play and
learn in an inclusive environment that meets the
needs of children with and without disabilities.

We shouldn't put labels on students. They should be able to play and learn in an environment that is open and not worried about whether they have a disability or not.

  1. Chelsey,

I believe that you picked out good points in the code of ethics and explaining it from your point of view.
